The Premium Company. Visit to INTRAME (Spain)

Spain is Sol, Flamenco, Rioha, Siesta. But not only this. I have travelled on business to Spain several times. Usually it was a convenient place for demonstrating the working potential of various European- and American-based manufacturers of construction equipment. But it was the first time I have seen a truly Spanish-based manufacturer. And this time was the major equipment I have got knowledge of - the bituminous concrete units of various capacity and arrangement manufactured by the one of the world-largest producer – Intrame. At home, in Spain and Portugal, its market share amounts to 80%. In South America and Africa it is well-established, too, and supplies France, Hungary, Poland. As regards Russian market, the Company is relatively unfamiliar, in spite of the over decade-long presence of the Intrame factory in Pensa and scheduled supplies within immediate future. We’ll try to fill this vacuum.

THE NEW PLANT: PUTIN LIKED IT

On June the 18th, in course of his working trip to the Yaroslavl Region, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin visited the Yaroslavl Komatsu Plant. Having surveyed the production process he expressed the high opinion to the new factory.

DOMESTIC UP-TO-DATE technologies for tunnel-and underground railway construction

The transport tunnel construction boom observed in various countries since the fifties owes its emergence to extreme necessity of the streets unclogging from vehicles, hastening of the cargo transfer and passenger transportation, raising of comfort level and providing for urban and natural environment protection. In turn, the larger scale of underground construction and its high cost considering the evident shortage of qualified personnel has been creating the natural incentives for development of the industrial construction methods by using the partly or fully automatic tunnel-boring equipment aimed at functioning under the wide range of geotechnical condition as well as the factory built constructions.

Heavy machinery enters the pavement…

Having discussed the situation on the soil compactor market in the spring (“CTT” # 2/2010), we now proceed to the composition of layers of bituminous concrete surface. Here, we meet with an offer of technologies just as extensive as for soil machines. As seen from bitter and thorny experience in domestic road industry, the base soil and layers of road pavement containing chip, often turn out to be underpacked. The situation with laying bituminous concrete is even more difficult. Bituminous concrete is a more whimsical substance than soil or chip. Upon laying in the surface, after packing with compactors, bituminous concrete can turn out to be underpacked or unevenly and incorrectly packed (decompacted) or even overpacked, which leads to the destruction of its structure and, as a result, collapse. To a large extent this problem is related to the selection of compactor lines and their operating mode. And, of course, to the qualification of employees.
