Dismantling in Brazil
Detronic company, which won a tender for a significant volume of operations to reconstruct Mineirao stadium in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, faced the task to dismantle the whole open tier, where seats compliant with FIFA standards are to be installed. To complete the work on time, and to cope with a number of difficulties, the company had to use several models of Atlas Copco hydraulic hammers.
Employees of Detronic had to make the pitch level 3.9 m lower, and for that purpose they had to excavate 70000 m2 of soil, dismantle the electronic scoreboard and pull down the stadium’s internal premises.
To perform those works, the engineers developed the demolition plan, according to which at the first stage access for large-sized equipment must have been provided.
SB 152 140 kg hydraulic hammers were used, which were installed on 8 t mini excavators. Only such light equipment allowed to maneuver within the limited space available at that stage of the works.
After the ground for heavyweight equipment was smoothened, employees of Detronic commenced dismatling the tiers using SB 452 (441 kg), MB 750 (750 kg) anf HB 3100 (3100 kg) hammers. These hammers were installed on excavators weighing under 50 tons, which allowed to demolish 2500 m2 of concrete works.
The skilfully scheduled operations soon had their effect: the stadium structures were dismantled and the pitch level was lowered before the ahead of the 150-days term provided by the tender. The Manager of Detronic emphasized: "Thanks to the high efficiency of the applied equipment we managed to complete the works less than in 120 days."
