ECONOMY FROM EXXONMOBIL
The "ExxonMobil" Company has recently conducted the operation tests of a completely synthetic oil "Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40" in small class MB Sprinter MRT 413 CDI passenger busses engines OM 611 DE22 LA, that are in service in GUP "Mostransavto" (avtokolonna 1417, g.Kolomna). The purpose of the test was to analyze the motor oil Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 performance for the duration of 25 to 30 thousand km against the recommended by the engine manufacturer interval of oil change equalling 15 thousand km.
During the test five oil samples were selected and analyzed (for 10 km, 5 to 7 thousand km, 14 to 16 thousand km, 21 to 23 thousand km, 27 to 32 thousand km) from each bus engine. While analyzing the lubricant the changing dynamic of the following characteristics was monitored: oil viscosity, base number and acid number; the level of ferrous wear particles contained in oil. Also, other physical and chemical properties of oil were checked, such as water content, dilution with fuel.
The result of the tests became the proven ability to increase the Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 oil change intervals up to 25 thousand km that is by 66%. The annual economic effect from use of Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 oil has equalled to 19,574.5 rubles per bus, and was stipulated by reduction of oil consumption due to lesser vaporization and increase of change intervals, as well as a result of reduction of maintenance cost and respective decrease in work stoppage time of the machines. For the whole minibusses fleet, accounting for 70 units, the total savings can reach 1,370,215 rubles per annum.
