Energy Efficiency Class Motors
According to the directive of the European Union, by 2017 all the motors used in the EU, including the ones used in pumps, must comply with IE3 energy efficiency class. Grundfos Company decided to shift to manufacturing energy efficiency high class pumps already now. Tests showed that units with the BlueFlux® mark under certain conditions can save up to 60% of energy.
The technology used in new motors allows to minimize losses in the stator coil and rotor and stator plates caused by eddy currents and phase lag. There were minimized losses due to the current passage through slots and the rotor collector as well as bearing friction losses.
The IE3 class motor can be equipped with frequency-controlled drive. As a result, the pump runs at top speed for less than 5% of time and that also reduces power consumption.
According to the Company experts, the equipment saves energy and quickly pays back. Electricity costs are about 85% of the pumping system service life cost. The transition to pumps with BlueFlux® will reduce this cost twice!
