Gifts from the Hero of the Day
This year Caterpillar Company celebrates the 35th anniversary of its Russian representative office founded in Moscow in 1973. The company has supplied its machines to Russia for 80 years already. This autumn it presented the first hydraulic dredge assembled at the Tosno plant (Leningrad oblast, Russia). As early as in the beginning of this year, considering the growth of demand in the Russian market, Caterpillar Company announced its plans to reequip its Tosno plant with machines allowing for hydraulic dredges manufacturing. Tosno Caterpillar plant was set up in the year 2000, and before 2008 it produced finished parts for Caterpillar machines. 320D hydraulic dredge is manufactured in accordance with the all-Union State Standard 30 0067-93, and is the first machine produced and assembled in Russia. Full-scale production of this most popular dredge model is planned for the end of the year.
Paying special attention to the Russian gas-and-oil production industry, Ceterpillar Company presented its new pipe-laying machine PL61.
PL61 pipe-laying machine with lifting capacity of more than 18 tons was designed and manufactured primarily for contractors working in the most demanding conditions. A number of PL61 units and components are also used for D6K tractors. The machine is provided with Caterpillar C6.6 engine with ACERT technology meeting all the existing international standards concerning the toxic elements content in burnt gases, as well as with a hydrostatic transmission, SystemOne™ running gear with oval crawler belt; the cabin is provided with upgraded electronic control equipment.
The 5.5 meter long derricking jib is made of high-strength steel and has box section increasing the reliability and useful carrying capacity of the machine with relatively low weight. The hook and the derricking jib are lifted and lowered with the help of independent hydraulic winches allowing for smooth infinite travel adjustment. High-speed mode of the winch provides for increased efficiency, and the low-speed mode allows for high-accuracy pipe laying. Oil disk brakes of the winches provide for latching of the hook and the derricking jib.
