Introduction technics to art
Two top-slewing tower cranes Liebherr are used in staging an open-air opera performance «Aida» on the lakeside of Boden lake in Bregenz city.
Both cranes, 550 EC-H 40 FR.tronic and 280 EC-H 12 Litronic, are directly involved with a performance and lift heavy decorations weighting up to 12 tonnes. Cranes serve not as imply lifting devices but also as a part of the scenery – booms' and jibs' outlines make a frame for the stage (that will be the world's biggest open-air stage during the theatrical season of 2009 and 2010) and for a night sky above Boden lake as well.
During the performance these two giant cranes had to connect two parts of a mask above the stage and hold it in the air. For this reason, the cranes' work has to be exceptionally precise. Stepless frequency driving mechanism and the area based blocking system (ABB) make the task easier for operators who were personally trained by Liebherr experts. The evenness of movements and high safety and reliability will help with more than 50 performances.
Both cranes are set up near the stage directly in a water on wooden posts that make the foundation for crane mounting. And the main frames of both cranes are, in its turn, attached to this framework.
