NEW ADVENTURES OF ITALIANS IN AFRICA
On the third day of the new year from headquarters of IVECO in Turin the twelfth transcontinental expedition Overland started off. This time the basic part of the route in the extent of 47 thousand kilometers has necessaory to be on the African continent which travellers are going to round practically on perimeter, having passed 29 countries – from Morocco to Egypt. The most far point of the route from the Europe will be the southern coast Of Republic of South Africa.
Six IVECO cars are participating in the expedition, painted in the traditional for Overland orange color. It is interesting, that only four of them are new ones: this is first of all two 5-door off-road cars Massif, modified by company " TruckTech ", one Daily 4x4 with a double cabin and a superstructure Onnicar for transportation of special equipment, and also a mobile workshop of company " Sperotto " on the chassis of heavy lorry Trakker 6x6. Well and two other machines which are already become legendary bonneted lorries 330.30ANW 6õ6, behind shoulders of which 250 thousand kilometers each that passed in several former Overlands.
However specially for this expedition their interiors were subjected to completion by the company « Mussa and Graziano », and now one of « three hundred thirtieth » acts in the role of a table, and another – in the role of a sleeping room.
They suppose, that the expedition will return back to Italy in May of this year.
Besides technics of IVECO also participates in another African expedition – « Sahara Ramble », which started in December from Genoa to reach Northern Africa. Its participants move on two new cars Fiat Panda 4x4 with engines 1,3 Multijet and two IVECOs – five-door Massif and Daily 4x4. The latter is equipped as a camper and provides comfortable rest and a lodging for the night. Expedition expects to return to Genoa in the end of February.
