Russian anniversary of Schmitz cargobull
10 years ago the official mission of «Schmitz Cargobull» has been opened in Russia. Although, this wasn't the sole reason for a presentation in «Imperial Park Hotel» near Moscow: 30 years ago the first semitrailer-refrigerator Schmitz was supplied to USSR and 15 years ago the first personal axle with disk brakes, designed together with Daimler-Benz, was created. Moreover, the company took the occasion to show Russian transport workers a live demonstration of it's new solution – a semitrailer S.CS UNIVERSAL with sliding sidelong tent made by TIR (more information in «KT» ¹ 3/2009).
According to the head of Russian office Sergey Pashtaruk, more than 17000 units of Schmitz Cargobull vehicles were shipped to Russia since 1999. And the size of supplies has been increasing steadily: if in 1999 the number of shipped semitrailers was 250, then, as for last years, we are speaking about thousands. The owner of «Schmitz Cargobull» Andreas Schmitz himself attended the presentation in «Imperial Park hotel». According to him, European manufacturers of towed vehicles go through an unprecedented downswing due to the economical crisis. The number of orders in the first quarter decreased by 94% as opposed to the same period last year. It's expected that all in all for the year the drop in production will be 70-90%. As for Schmitz Cargobull, for instance, this means that in 2009 towed vehicles production will be less than 10000 units in comparison with more than 66000 in 2007/2008 fiscal year.
