RUSSIAN MAXUS WILL APPEAR ONLY IN 2010
Sergey Zanozin, the president of GAZ Group, has announced that the first Maxus low-tonnage vehicles manufactured in Russia will appear in 2010. They will be manufactured at Gorkovsky car works, by a new production complex. The complex will comprise a welding department, paint shops and an assembly plant situated in the same building, which provides for efficient communication. The production localization level will gradually increase to 30%. The sales volume of Maxus in Russia is about 45 thousand per year.
Sergey Zanozin also announced the company’s plans for development of the family of commercial light-duty machines. It is planned to design and start production of a low-tonnage truck named GAZel-3, belonging to a new generation of trucks. The new product will be created on the base of Maxus cars. The design works are being carried out in cooperation with Magna engineering company. The planned estimated capacity of the production plant is 300 thousand items per year.
