WILL KAMAZ BE JOINED TO DAIMLER BUSES?
Incomes reduced by 12%. Yet, some increase of sales is recorded on markets of the USA, Canada and Asia. By the results of the year in the segment of cars with full mass over 8 tons, Daimler Buses holds about 13% of the world market which may allow speaking of their sole leadership. As for perspectives for 2010, in the official reports one can perceive the idea of doubling the amount of sales in per cent pro rata as compared with the world trends. To achieve this, the major attention in R&D works will be paid to rising efficiency and cost-efficiency of the rolling stock, implementation of the most perfect ecology standards (up to Euro-6 incl.), and to participation in realization of the most modern transportation solutions of BRT type. Whereas investments in scientific researches for the last year exceeded those for year 2008 by more than 30 million euros and approached the figure of 180 million euros.
In Russia, after organizing Mercedes-Benz Trucks Vostok Joint Venture, the major stake in promotion of MB and Setra makes is made on the dealer network of Kamsky Motor Works (KamAZ). It once again confirms the real idea of DAG’s interest in purchasing shares of the motor plant from Naberezhnye Chelny. And we may only suppose how much time and assets it takes until the mentioned network will be able to provide full-scale post-sale support of the buses which, unlike of conventional products, relate already to the next geological epoch. For example, see the bus on the photo: Mercedes-Benz Citaro G BlueTec Hybrid.
Although, taking into consideration quite moderate levels of sales of the German buses in 2009 and in the first quarter of 2010, it is possible that Russian purchasers of Daimler Buses’s products still will not encounter any problems…
